KEN BANKOFF'S HISTORY
Ken Bankoff is the founder of UltraGuard Architectural
Coatings, the parent company for the UltraGuard swimming
pool resurfacing products. Ken has been working in the
pool industry his entire life. He has nearly 50 year of
experience. Through the years Ken has seen that various
pool resurfacing gimmicks like fiberglass, plaster, and
gelcoats that have come and gone. Ken himself was once
an installer of these types of swimming pool refinishing
applications. After watching product after product fail
within a few years, Ken decided to find a better solution.
Ken Bankoff spent years meeting with scientists, chemical
engineers and other pool experts in search of a better
solution. When Ken discovered that the leading wet area
industrial coating was actually a two-part epoxy that forms
a chemical bond to the substrate he decided to test it
out. Ken did an application on his own pool that held up
surprisingly well. After this he met with a chemical company
to private brand an industrial epoxy for the
pool industry.
Ken spent years as a contractor installing the UltraGuard
product until he realized that it was so easy to do that
people should be allowed to do it themselves and save thousands
of dollars in contractor fees. In 2004 Ken Bankoff took the
UltraGuard DIY product online and has since sold over 2,000
units! Ken’s competition has tried to discredit the UltraGuard
product but none of their claims seem to stick (sort of like
their products). Search the Internet for information about
UltraGuard and you will see the vast majority of users are
thrilled beyond belief.
There are competitors who have tried
(unsuccessfully) to discredit UltraGuard with personal
attacks on Ken Bankoff. If you have spoken to them
we encourage you to read the information below.
These are indeed harsh
times. Manufacturers, banks, homeowners, and businesses
are all trying to survive. Certain unethical,
ruthless business people think they must misrepresent,
slander and lie about their competition. The
article below addresses some personal,
very personal problems that I have had with such
companies and business people. They have slandered my
good name. This has now become my personal
crusade.
Two specific companies have
tried for the past 20 or more years to get me out of the
pool business. The tactics they are using are comparable
to hard-core politics. They could not put me out of business
because of the many referrals of my former customers and
the blessing of the Better Business Bureau.
They have even posted an article on the Internet about
me that is slanderous and 90% lies. I am sure they are
losing business to UltraGuard with the Poolrestoration
website that tells the truth abouttheir products. Can
you really trust these people and the product they
sell, when they cannot say anything negative about
the UltraGuard product but resort instead to negative
and slanderous lies about me?
The pool industry is just like politics. Manufacturers,
distributors, contractors will do anything or say anything
to get your business. As in politics, they will try to
ruin the personal reputation of their competition especially
CEO’s of that company.
Every pool company in the country has skeletons in their
closets. The larger companies have a larger the potential
for skeletons. I have had to acknowledge my skeletons in
the past 22-23 years because of competition. It is never
good when a company is forced out of business because they
could not stand behind their warranties. Monolithic Fiberglass
Restoration Inc. and UltraGuard Pool Inc. dba.UltraGuard
Fiberglass Pools in the early 80’s were among the first
and largest companies to introduce fiberglass restoration
and new fiberglass construction in the north east. As
a professional installing fiberglass, we were plagued by
major failures. I do not believe any homeowner should attempt
the installation as a DIY. Many contractors, nationally
installing fiberglass have gone out of business because
of the many inherent problems with fiberglass.
In five short years, both of my companies had to go out
of business due to the many problems that are inherent
in fiberglass applications. To maintain my good name with
the Better Business Bureau and be able to stay in business,
I was able to satisfy 98% of my pre-existing problems.
This was done by either giving full refunds or by doing
jobs over. In satisfying these customers, I used
my own personal funds. I also acknowledge that
I had two lawsuits that had to be settled in court with
a financial payout. I believe this is remarkable
for any pool company that has been in business for 48-years.
To have only two lawsuits considering the sheer number
of problems I had to satisfy is quite remarkable. It
should also be noted that there are no outstanding judgments
against me or any of my companies.
Everything I say now and everything on my website is 100%
true. Remember, the UltraGuard Challenge has been up for
5-years and not one manufacturer of any coating has ever
challenged me because they know what I claim is true and
accurate.
